Black Maria Film Festival 2016
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jane Steuerwald for two years now, coordinating a special “animation-heavy” screening of the Black Maria Film and Video Festival in partnership with Ramapo College’s Animation program.
In the Fall when submissions were in, we hosted a pre-screening event where faculty and students participated in the jury process and animation student, Cristian Aroca, has been interning as Jane’s assistant.
The national tour of the 35th anniversary season of the Black Maria Film Festival will be presented at Ramapo College of New Jersey on Friday February 12th at 7:30pm in the Sharp Theater. Festival director, Jane Steuerwald will be present to introduce the films and lead a discussion with the audience.
This special event will feature screenings of the festival’s award-winning short films including animation, documentary, and narrative from the 2016 juried competition. Admission is $5 for guests and free for Ramapo College students. Black Maria will subsequently travel to museums, cultural centers, colleges, and universities throughout the United States and abroad.
